Meet & greet at Phnom Penh International Airport by our friendly guide upon arrival and then transfer to your hotel for check-in. Lunch is served at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Phar Thmey (Central market), a huge domed building with four wings pointing in the four directions. Return to your hotel tonight after dinner.
Breakfast at the hotel and then, followed by a sightseeing tour of Cambodia’s capital. Visit the Independence Monument, Royal Palace with its Silver Pagoda and the National Museum before enjoying lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the Russian Market of Phsar Tuol Tompung and Tuol Sleng Museum which is a former Khmer Rouge S-21 prison. After dinner, return to your hotel in Phnom Penh.
After breakfast, visit the APSARA Art Association, where Cambodian children between the ages of 3-15 begin traditional classic dance classes and perform rehearsal dances (except Saturdays and Sundays). Enjoy lunch, followed by a relaxing wooden boat cruise on the Mekong River. Sail to Mekong Island, where you have the opportunity to explore the rural lifestyles of the villages on the island. Dinner is served on board the boat as you journey back to Phnom Penh at sunset. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Depart for Kampong Thom this morning after breakfast. On the way, stop to visit the 11th century temple of Kuha Nokor and the Khmer Rouge Dam (1 Makara Dam) which was built for agricultural irrigation during the Khmer Rouge regime using only people labor. Also stop at Prasat Village, where ancient temples date back to the 9th century AD, and see the interesting sandstone carvings/sculptures near Santuk Mountain. Check in to your hotel and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Spend your afternoon visiting the Sambor Prey Kuk group of temples at the center of this abandoned pre-Angkorian capital. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant then stay overnight at your hotel in Kampong Thom.
Begin your journey to Siem Reap, visiting a crocodile farm en route. Then, observe the amazing 1,000-year old “Angkorian Bridge”, which is no longer in service and is now under conservation and preservation. Visit a Cambodian blacksmith to learn how he uses traditional methods to produce materials for the local people. Upon arrival in Siem Reap, check in at the hotel and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. This afternoon, visit Western Baray, where the ancient water reservoir is still used for agriculture today. Then move on to the War Museum with its large collection of guns, rocket launchers, mortars, grenades, bombs and more; artillery which was collected from the countryside adjacent to the Thailand border after the war in Cambodia. Head back to town to visit Artisan d’Angkor to view traditional Khmer stone and wood carvings. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant with a classical dance show. Continue your wonderful Khmer temple heritage tour with a visit to the lost city of the Khmer Empire; the South Gate of Angkor Thom, the Giant faces of famous Bayon and Baphuon Temples, the Terraces of Elephants and Leper King, Phimean Akas and the unforgettable jungle temple of Ta Prohm. After lunch, visit the World Heritage Site of Angkor Wat Temple, study its splendid architecture and bas-relief and enjoy spectacular sunset views. Dinner is served at a local restaurant before returning to your hotel in Siem Reap.
Enjoy a world heritage experience by visiting the unique red sandstone Banteay Srey Temple and Banteay Samre Temple. Spend the remainder of the morning at the local village of Pradak, where you can learn the simple way that the local people produce natural palm sugar from palm juice (called Toek Thnot in Khmer). This morning, visit the group of Roluos temples: Preah Ko, Bakong and Lolei temples, followed by lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Sangkheum Center for Children where you can see students making a variety of handicraft products. Walk through the agricultural farm to learn about farming practices in Cambodia, and watch the students practicing their dancing and playing their instruments. You will then have the chance to purchase some traditional handicraft souvenirs from the local market. Dinner is served before returning to the hotel for your last overnight stay in Siem Reap.
After breakfast, take a boat journey to Battambang by crossing Tonle Sap Great Lake. Enjoy the experience of life on water, where the entire village floats on the lake, including the local market, school and hospital! Check in at the hotel in Battambang and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, journey to the 11th century AD mountaintop temple of Banan and marvel at the stunning views of your surroundings. You will encounter Sampeou Mountain; if you choose to ascend it, enjoy the spectacular sunset and perhaps see thousands of bats fly out of a nearby cave. Transfer back to the town for dinner at a local restaurant and stay overnight at the hotel in Battambang.
On your last visit in this beautiful town, journey to Prahok Market, Pursat orange market and traditional Khmer houses. Enjoy riding the Bamboo Train, the “Lorry,” a unique and creative form of local transportation. It uses a motorcycle engine-powered bamboo cart that travels on railroad rails, picking up and dropping off passengers, cargo, animals and motorcycles along the way. When it meets an oncoming train or bamboo train, it can be dissembled and taken off the rail in a minute or two, allowing the other to pass. After lunch at a local restaurant, transfer to the hotel for check-out then proceed on your trip to Phnom Penh by road. En route, time permitting, stop to view silver carving at Kampong Luong and the famous pottery art in Kampong Chhnang. Check in to the hotel upon arrival and then enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
This morning after breakfast, press onwards to Takeo Province. Upon arrival, transfer to a speedboat for a journey along the Prek Chik Takeo (Takeo Canal). Disembark your boat at the Phnom Da Temple, where you can see some of the very earliest Khmer architecture and art; pieces which inspired and influenced the rest of the Angkor civilization. Later this afternoon, stop to visit Angkor Borei, the ancient capital of the Khmer Kingdom during the 1st century AD. A boxed lunch is served on site. Arrive back at the township of Takeo where for dinner at a local restaurant and then spend the night at your hotel in Takeo.
This morning after breakfast at the hotel, stroll around the town of Takeo to gain a greater understanding of the lives of the locals before continuing the land trip to Kampot and Kep. In the afternoon, you are in for a treat as you pay a visit to a tropical orchard full of durian, mango, cashew-nut, sapodilla trees and pineapple, products which are used to supply the local market. Stop at a small zoo and the nearby Toek Chhou Natural Resort, where bathing with the cool water rapids and river breeze are quite pleasant. Continue your trip to Kep city and check in upon arrival at the hotel. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and an overnight stay at the hotel in Kep.
On today’s adventure, experience the crab market and the caves of Phnom Chhgnok, a great place for a 1-km trek. Marvel at the pre-Angkorian ruin set in a limestone cave amongst stalagmites and stalactites that are slowly growing back into the ruin. Discover the small 6th century temple and the Sre Ambel salt collection farm which supplies the local market demand. Lunch is served at a restaurant in the provincial town of Kampot, and afterwards, continue the trip to Sihanoukville. Upon arrival, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, then check in and stay overnight at your hotel.
After breakfast, transfer the fishery port to visit local villages and a monastery. Then head back to Phsar Le for an experience in negotiating to buy fresh seafood. The seafood will then be cooked for your picnic lunch which is served under the cottage on the pristine beach. Spend your afternoon at leisure and relax on the sparkling beach. Enjoy dinner at the beachside restaurant or, for groups of 10 or more, participate in a barbeque. Stay overnight at your hotel in Sihanoukville.
Spend your last morning in Sihanoukville enjoying its lovely beach, then check-out and return to Phnom Penh by road. Savor fruits and a picnic lunch along the way, as well as visits to some beautiful tourist sites or shopping, if you are interested. Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, transfer to the airport for your departure flight back home.
